Job Summary-  The Architectural Hardware Specification Writer ensures that proper specification and documentation are completed for each project in order to achieve a clear understanding of the project requirements and expectations.

The Architectural Hardware Specification Writer is responsible and accountable for:
  • Creating technical hardware sets and specifications for the architectural community, including code requirements for new construction as well as renovations, within the allotted schedule.
  • Review show drawings and submittals.
  • Provide solutions to architects on products, codes, and applications.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Specification Writer, vendors, and any other disciplines needed to develop inclusive hardware specification for mechanical and electrical hardware.
  • Review specific building codes per project to ensure compliance.
  • Write pricing requests and addendums for projects as required.
  • Conduct site surveys (if local).
  • Work closely with the Estimating department on specifications and document interpretation for budgeting projects.
Experience and Education-
  • 5 years experience as a specification writer for CSI Division 8.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and thorough understanding of all brands of door hardware and building codes.
  • Demonstrated experience with running multiple projects simultaneously and operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • High School diploma.
  • Formal credentialing through the Door & Hardware Institute (DHC or AHC) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Comsense Advantage ERP is strongly preferred.
